Welcome to the VCWMA!
We are a newly formed group of individuals, Federal, State, and County public agencies, special districts, municipalities, environmental coalitions, agricultural concerns, and others who have banded together to fight the spread of invasive and noxious weeds in Ventura County. The VCWMA is an expansion of the Ventura County Arundo Task Force (VCATF). Both agencies are led by the Ventura County Resource Conservation District (VCRCD). The VCWMA's activities will focus upon the exclusion, detection, eradication, and suppression of priority noxious and invasive weeds using an integrated approach. We will be working closely with other local organizations such as the VCATF, the Ventura County Watershed Protection District, and the Wetlands Recovery Task Force in the fight against invasive weeds.
Is your organization interested in becoming a VCWMA partner?
The VCWMA needs your support! If your organization would like to support the WMA, please consider signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), as MOUs illustrate area support for our organization. The VCWMA has 2 versions of the MOU available, a standard version and one specifically tailored to better suit the needs of government agencies. If your organization would like to show its support for the VCWMA, please print two copies of the appropriate MOU signature page, sign where indicated, and mail to Marty Melvin of the VCRCD at the address shown on the signature page. A copy endorsed by the VCRCD will then be returned to you for your records.
California Invasive Species Council
"The council will appoint a California Invasive Species Advisory Committee (CISAC) tasked with making recommendations to prioritize an invasive species rapid response plan. The committee will take input from local government, tribal governments and federal agencies, as well as environmental organizations, academic and science institutions, affected industry sectors and impacted landowners."
